Please review these terms and conditions carefully before making a reservation.
By booking with La Isla Mentawai, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions
Booking Confirmation: A reservation is only confirmed upon receipt of the required deposit and issuance of a booking confirmation by La Isla Mentawai.
Deposit Requirements: A deposit of 60% of the total booking fee is required to secure the reservation.
Final Payment: The balance of the booking fee is due 20 days prior to the arrival date. Failure to make this payment may result in the cancellation of the booking.
Payment Methods: We accept payments via debit or credit card on-site, international bank wire transfer, and cash.
Reservations & Payments
Cancellations by the Guest:
Cancellations made more than 60 days prior to arrival will receive a full refund, minus a 20% Processing fee.
Cancellations made within 30 days prior to arrival will receive a 50% refund.
Cancellations made within 20 days of arrival are non-refundable. A rescheduling of stay may apply depending on dates and availability.
2. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations by La Isla:
In the unlikely event that we must cancel your booking, a full refund will be provided, or alternative accommodations will be arranged.
No-Show Policy: If you fail to arrive on the scheduled date, the reservation will be considered a no-show, and no refunds will be issued.
3. Force Majeure & Travel Disruptions (Inbound & Outbound)
Island life is incredible, but tropical weather and third-party ferry schedules can occasionally be unpredictable. To keep things completely transparent and protect both our guests and our island operations, our policy for disruptions beyond anyone's control is structured as follows:
On the Way In (Inbound Disruptions)
If your transit to the resort is completely halted due to ferry cancellations, severe weather conditions, or other official force majeure situations, we offer two clear paths forward:
2-Year Credit: A credit voucher valid for 2 years from your original arrival date, which can be applied toward any future stay at La Isla Resort.
Partial Refund: A 50% refund of the total amount paid for the booking.
Ferry Ticket Availability & Local Holiday Disruptions
While our team works magic on the ground to help coordinate your arrival, please note that transit disruptions caused by sold-out ferry tickets, local national holidays, or unexpected regional transport changes are entirely outside of the resort's control and remain the responsibility of the guest.
Because La Isla operates as a remote, premium boutique sanctuary, all fresh provisions, gourmet food, and staff schedules are fully pre-purchased and prepared strictly on the spot for your exact dates. Therefore, we cannot issue refunds or booking credits for missed nights due to ticketing or holiday delays.
To keep the good vibes rolling and help you make up for lost time, if you face this specific type of delay, we are happy to offer the following goodwill gestures:
On the Way Out: If our resort capacity and scheduling permit, we will gladly offer you one additional complimentary night at the end of your current stay to maximize your island time.
For Next Time: If an extension isn't operationally possible during your current trip, we will credit one complimentary bonus night to your next future booking with us at La Isla Mentawai.
On the Way Out (Outbound Disruptions & Extended Stays)
Guest Responsibility for Extra Nights: If a ferry cancellation, severe weather, or a force majeure event prevents you from leaving the island on your scheduled check-out date, any additional nights spent at the resort will be fully charged to the guest.
Operational Expenses: While our team will always do everything possible to keep you safe and comfortable if you get stranded, running a premium boutique resort on a remote island requires substantial daily resources (power, staff, food, and maintenance). Because weather and marine transport variables are entirely outside of the resort's control, La Isla cannot absorb the cost of unscheduled extensions.
Settlement of Charges: Any extra nights required due to outbound transport delays will be billed at our standard operational rates and must be settled in full prior to your ultimate departure.
Traveler Note: Because remote travel always carries an element of unpredictability, we strongly advise all guests to purchase comprehensive travel insurance that explicitly covers trip interruptions, weather delays, and emergency island accommodation costs.
Conduct: Guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and responsible manner. La Isla Mentawai reserves the right to terminate a stay without refund if a guest exhibits inappropriate behavior.
Damage and Loss: Guests are responsible for any damage to the property or loss of items during their stay. Fees may be applied for repairs or replacement of damaged items.
Personal Belongings: La Isla Mentawai is not responsible for any personal belongings left behind after check-out.
4. Guests Responsabilities
Health Requirements: Guests should be in good health, as our remote location and surf-focused amenities may not be suitable for those with certain medical conditions.
Liability: La Isla Mentawai is not liable for any personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property during your stay. We recommend that guests obtain travel insurance.

6. Surfing Services & Equipment Rental
Surf Equipment Rental: Guests may rent surf equipment for an additional fee. Guests are responsible for the equipment and will be charged for any damages.
Surf Coaching and Photography: Surf coaching and photography services are available upon request and subject to availability.
Waiver and Assumption of Risk: Surfing involves certain risks. By participating in surfing activities or renting equipment, guests assume all risks associated with these activities and agree to release La Isla Mentawai from any liability. Guest are expected to follow and pay attention safety indications provided by our trained staff.
Availability of Services: Additional services, such as board rental, surf coaching, and video & surf photography, are subject to availability and may require advance booking.
Changes to Services: La Isla Mentawai reserves the right to alter or discontinue additional services without notice, if necessary.
7. Additional Services
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. By booking with us, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in our Privacy Policy.
